Young Homeowners Are At Risk From Tap Water Once Thought To Be Safe
Homeowners may have developed PFAS firefighting foam cancer from drinking their private well water
Sunday, June 25, 2023 - In today's complex world, families have a lot to worry about, especially when buying a home. It was universally taken for granted that the drinking water from the property's well water to the home tap was safe and pure. Today, however, millions of people that live near airports worry that their private water well is contaminated with dangerous PFAS forever chemicals from the AFFF firefighting foam used at the airport to extinguish petroleum and jet fuel fires. Young families that live near US airports are reporting an abnormally high number of cases of testicular cancer, kidney cancer, liver cancer, and pancreatic cancer. Most homeowners living near airports may have been drinking PFAS-contaminated tap water for years. PFAS chemicals bioaccumulate in human tissue and blood permanently, building up to levels that can develop into cancer tumors that can spread throughout the body and damage vital organs. If you or a loved one have suffered or died from kidney cancer, prostate cancer, testicular cancer, bladder cancer, thyroid or liver cancer, lymphoma, or leukemia after exposure to AFFF firefighting foam, you may be eligible to file an AFFF firefighting foam lawsuit against the manufacturer of the product. PFAS forever chemicals are also linked to birth defects and stillborn births.
In addition to causing cancer, home tap water contaminated with PFAS chemicals in firefighting foam may also permanently damage one's DNA. Mothers who drank PFAS-contaminated water during their pregnancy risk passing the contamination on to their children, where cancer can develop in adolescence or as a young adult. Cancer has a latency of a decade or more where one is stricken with the disease but unaware of its presence. Lawsuits are pending against 3M, DuPont, and several other companies for the negligence, carelessness, and recklessness with which they manufactured and sold the product. In addition to being at risk if you live near an airport, hundreds of military bases located throughout the US have been using and improperly disposing of AFFF firefighting foam for decades. More than 400 military bases are under investigation by the Pentagon regarding firefighting foam PFAS chemical groundwater contamination. All in all, more than 100 million Americans may have developed cancer from drinking home well tap water they thought to be safe in what may be developing into a national disaster.
Scientific studies link contaminated drinking water with causing reproductive problems, weakened childhood immunity, low birth weight, endocrine disruption, elevated cholesterol, and obesity, according to The Environmental Working Group (EWG). A recent article published on the EWG website reports, " Of all the possible sources of PFAS contamination, it is the military's use of firefighting foam that could have caused the most human suffering. According to EWG, "PFAS contamination on military installations is widespread because for nearly 50 years, the Department of Defense, or DOD, has used firefighting foam -- so-called aqueous film-forming foam, or AFFF -- that contains PFAS chemicals."
